Post-16 education and training preference form
All post-16 admissions to colleges, sixth forms, training providers or other establishments for young people who have support outlined in an EHC Plan are subject to a consultation process. This is to ensure that:
- The provision can meet your needs as outlined in the EHC Plan.
- The provision can deliver agreed educational outcomes in line with your career aspirations to support their progression and transition into adulthood.
- The provision supports community inclusion.
Please be aware that Specialist Post-16 settings will only be considered after consultation with mainstream settings to see if a mainstream setting can meet need. If you are considering a Specialist provider, please make sure you have read about moving into Further Education and Training with an EHCP as well as spoken with your Targeted Information Advice Guidance (TIAG) advisor.
On receipt of your preference form, our SEND team will work on your behalf to consult with your chosen providers and do their best to arrange a suitable placement.
It’s important we receive your preference form no later than 29 January 2021. This will help us to arrange your Post-16 place in good time.
In Post-16, the young person must also meet the published course entry criteria in order to be admitted onto the course.
