The young people of Barnsley have once again, taken part in the annual Takeover Challenge. Young Children in Care and Care Leavers were given the opportunity to take over council roles and several professions throughout the Borough.
The aim is to give the young people a greater understanding of different jobs and responsibilities in the workplace, while raising their ambitions and aspirations.
The day saw a range of opportunities and roles being filled by the young people. These included working alongside with South Yorkshire Police, animal care at Wigfield Farm, working at Barnsley FC Academy; as well as working in the council’s Legal Services, IT and Childcare support. One young man also spent the day with the Mayor of Barnsley.
Overall, the day was a huge success with many happy faces at the Celebration Event at Regent St.
Well done and thank you to all involved!
