Barnsley College Higher Education

Barnsley College Higher Education (HE) offers foundation and honours degrees, Higher and Degree Apprenticeships and Higher National Certificates and Diplomas (HNC/Ds) at levels 4, 5 and 6. Find out more about Barnsley College Higher Educaiton.  

Their courses are designed to maximise development and provide students with the skills needed to start a career within their chosen industry or support those looking to retrain or gain higher level qualifications so they can take their career to the next level.  

Based at the Church Street campus, in the heart of Barnsley, courses are available in a wide variety of subjects including Animal Management, Fine Art, Childcare and Teacher Training, Construction, Health, Management and Sport, plus many more. Flexible study options are also available and some courses only require a few hours of study per week - making it easy to fit study around your work or home life. Students also benefit from smaller class sizes, expert academic staff and regular opportunities to hear from industry guest speakers.  

The degree programmes are validated by the University of Hull, Leeds Trinity University and Sheffield Hallam University, meaning our students achieve a qualification they’re proud of but at a much lower cost.  

The College has an excellent reputation for high academic standards and achievements. The College is also the best South Yorkshire college for student satisfaction, as it achieved 88% overall student satisfaction rate in the 2019/20 National Student survey (NSS) Satisfaction Survey.

We offer courses from entry-level to degree level, along with fun enrichment and enterprise activities that will help enhance your CV or UCAS application. The level at which you enter your course depends on your GCSE results and other qualifications you may have.

At the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre, the ambition and aspiration is nurtured and developed to create the talented, advanced engineers of tomorrow.

As part of the University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre, apprentices are perfectly placed to draw on the experience of an elite Russell Group university and the resources of a world-leading research and innovation organisation, whose 120-plus partners include Siemens, Technicut, Boeing, Rolls-Royce, Toyota Motorsport GMBH, McLaren and Airbus.

They also provide Continuous Professional Development (CPD) which is an essential requirement for any organisation. The ability for employers to upskill, reskill or multiskill employees is more important now than ever before.

Each year York St John host a Y10 Summer School on campus for students to find out more about university. This year we can’t have our event on campus, so we’re bringing the summer school to you! Join us at our virtual Summer School to find out more about Future Y.O.U - You, Options and University.  

This year there live sessions will be from 4pm from Tuesday 13 July to Thursday 15 July 2021
