This year’s Big Challenge saw over 70 teams from across Primary and Secondary schools competing to be crowned “Best Primary Business” and “Best Secondary Business”.
Following submission of their business reports, 20 teams were invited to the Digital Media Centre in May to present their businesses to a panel of dragons. The judges were impressed by the levels of confidence in the teams pitches and how well thought out and developed their ventures were.
The winners were announced at our annual celebration evening headline sponsored by Henry Boot and Enzygo where former winner Rose Dyson of Pura Cosmetics talked about her journey since winning and how she has continued to trade the business she entered with to a point where she has just taken on her first premises.
Prizes awarded on the night included most profit, best pitch and socially responsible business.
The title of Best Business primary and Secondary went to Rags to Bags from Wellgate Primary for their business which turned t-shirts into bags and BAM (Body and Mind) from Horizon whose business focussed on wellbeing and produced room sprays and sleep sprays.
The judges chose the businesses based on their overall offer looking at sustainability and how the business could grow.
For their prizes the primary winners enjoyed a day in London at the theatre and the Secondary winners went on a business trip to Barcelona.
